Had a great time in the Falkland Islands with so much to see. Yorke Bay where the Argentinians first landed in 1982, Penguins now own the beach, then we went off to Mount Harriet. Thank you Tony for a very informative walk up the hill. I feel very privileged to of had the opportunity to go to the Falklands. So if any of you ever get the chance to go - Take it The Battle of Mount Harriet was an engagement of the Falklands War, which took place on the night of 11/12 June 1982 between British and Argentine forces. It was one of three battles in a Brigade-size operation all on the same night, the other two being the Battle of Mount Longdon and the Battle of Two Sisters.

After heading north on route to the Falkland Islands we stopped off at Elephant Island. After arriving the cloud cleared leaving some spectacular views of the glacier and then heading off past Mount Irving. This island was the desolate refuge of the British explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew in 1916 following the loss of their ship Endurance in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea. The crew of 28 reached Cape Valentine on Elephant Island after months spent drifting on ice floes and a harrowing crossing of the open ocean in small lifeboats.After camping at Cape Valentine for two nights, Shackleton and his crew moved 11 km (7 mi) west to a small, rocky spit at the terminus of a glacier, which offered better protection from rockfalls and from the sea, and which they called Point Wild.

After going through Drakes Passage we entered. The Gerlache Strait A famous body of water in the Antarctic Peninsula, The Gerlache Strait is a must For anyone heading this way . Due to its spiky blue icebergs, humpback whale spotting, snow and mountains.

Passing Cape Horn lighthouse early morning just before the sun comes up. Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of southern Chile, and is located on the small Hornos Island. Although not the most southerly point of South America (which are the Diego Ramírez Islands), Cape Horn marks the northern boundary of the Drake Passage. For decades it was a major milestone on the clipper route, by which sailing ships carried trade around the world. The waters around the Cape are particularly hazardous,

Great couple of days in Ushuaia before heading south to Antarctica. And of course you have to have the obligatory picture taken with the Ushuaia sign. What a great place. Ushuaia is the capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego, and claims to be the world’s southernmost “city at the end of the world”. Settled by British colonists in the first half of the 20th century, it was named Ushuaia, which means “bay overlooking the West” in the local yámana language.

Final couple of chilly days at Stoney cove finishing off Harry’s Poseidon TEC 40 CCR Trimix course. Well done Harry, this is the time of year when the visibility gets better but the water temp starts to drop. Looking forward to January when the water should hopefully be crystal clear.

Great history week in Montenegro . Visiting disused sub pens & one of the old subs from the former Yugoslavian Navy. Now back to the Uk to start some TEC 60 CCR & TEC 60 CCR courses.

Yesterday we had our final dive of the week on the HMS Audacious before the weather turned. HMS Audacious was the fourth and last King George V-class dreadnought battleship built for the Royal Navy in the early 1910s. After completion in 1913, she spent her brief career assigned to the Home and Grand Fleets. The ship was sunk by a German naval mine off the northern coast of County Donegal, Ireland, early during the First World War. Audacious slowly flooded, allowing all of her crew to be rescued and finally sank after the British were unable to tow her to shore. However, a petty officer on a nearby cruiser was killed by shrapnel when Audacious subsequently exploded.Like the Orion class, the King George Vs were equipped with 10 breech-loading (BL) 13.5-inch (343 mm) Mark V guns in five hydraulically powered twin-gun turrets.

Todays Dive was the German submarine U-2511 it was a Type XXI submarine of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. The Elektroboot submarine was laid down on 7 July 1944 and eventually Sunk in Operation Deadlight on 7 January 1946 at 7:40 pm.

Day 2 on the SA Empire Heritage. Sank on the 8th September 1944 after being struck by 2 torpedoes, she was carrying Sherman Tanks plus other equipment. The Tanks now lye on the seabed at 67 meters , another great dive.

Day 1 of the Malin Classics trip. out on the SS Justicia. Great first dive of the week. Vis excellent max depth 70m with a runtime of 134 minutes. Temperature on the bottom 9deg 🔥

Just received my OrcaTorch D710, with 3,000 lumens, thank you @betsyyim , I have always been dubious of smaller torches however this one pack’s a great punch, I would definitely recommend the D710 if you want a small torch or a back up torch that gives off a lot of light.

This is a truly amazing dive site, a little remote however well worth a visit if you don’t mind the walk up heart attack hill with all your kit 😩

On Sunday we were at capernwray dive site conducting a couple of Poseidon CCR try dives for Huddersfield BSAC. I think it’s safe to say that Alex & Huw are seriously considering their options. Thank you @lungfish_rebreathers for asking me to be part of the team carrying out some of the final CE Test Approval Dives @vobsterquay . Great day with friends and although I am primarily a Poseidon diver, this unit was very comfortable from the start, weighting and position in the water was amazing. Hopefully it will not be long now until final CE Approval sign off.

Just received my copy of Between the devil and the deep, This book is a true account of what actually happened to Martin on a deep expedition dive in Russia, Diving in excess of 200 meters he got the bends on the way back up , what he did next is all In the book, knowing Martin as I do now after being mentored by him over the last couple of years I know this book will be good , get yourself a copy I am sure you will not regret it.
